Week of March 28th

I hope you enjoyed your extra long weekend. Though it was wet the temperatures were slightly warmer Sunday and Monday, the days are getting noticeably longer and I hope you spent some time outdoors.

Here are a couple of photos of the eggs my children decorated this year. Their grandma is Ukrainian and she's teaching them how to decorate eggs using a Ukrainian method called pysanky. It takes a really steady hand and a lot of patience but I think they did pretty well for their first try!

I also took the opportunity to capture some interesting photos north of the city where they had an ice-storm over the weekend. The sunshine and warm weather on Sunday melted the ice on branches which was really pretty against the blue sky:

Another busy but short week ahead of us. Here's what's in store:

EdAppHack (STEM/Science)
I was so impressed with the level of enthusiasm and commitment you are making to this project. I felt that our classroom was exciting and lively last Thursday afternoon while you worked away at your Marvel prototypes. I am as excited as you are for the final pitch next week!
We will spend time this week completing the following:
-prototype
-pitch
-display
-coding

Math
We will begin a new unit on Patterning and Algebra...come prepared to solve for the unknown!!! (Sounds mysterious!)

Language
We will begin our novel study of Kenneth Oppel books. He's visiting our school on April 14th so we have some time to become familiar with his writing before then.

History
We will have history once this week to take up the work from last week but most of our afternoon time will be used for the EdAppHack project.
