Welcome back!

Welcome to the 2015-2016 school year!

My name is Sandra DeAngelis-Mullin and I am very excited to be your homeroom teacher this year! This marks my 19th year teaching at Parkdale Public School. The school and community are very important to me and I am committed to working with the students, parents and community to make this school year and our classroom a vibrant and enriched learning experience where students achieve their best while developing positive character.

We are very lucky to have Ms. Gloria Marcel working in our classroom this year. And, once again, Ms. Angella Issajenko is our Educational Assistant. Together we will meet the various needs of our students and toward towards their success.

Timetable
You will receive a copy of your timetable on the first day of school. Please note that we have swimming scheduled on Day 2, Period 1. It is important to arrive to school with a swimsuit and towel on scheduled swimming days.

Keeping in touch with Parents/Guardians
All students will receive an agenda. This is an excellent tool to help keep your child organized and to facilitate communication between home and school. This blog address

will also help keep parents and students informed of upcoming units, homework and events. Please visit the blog website weekly and consider making it your homepage. If you require a meeting in person, one can be scheduled. Please call the school to contact me and we can arrange a meeting.

Summer 2015
My family and I took in many PanAm events this summer. We watched Ellie Black win gold in gymnastics, Rosie MacLennan win gold on trampoline and Andre De Grasse win gold in the 200m! It was so exciting to see our Canadian athletes work hard to achieve such greatness and made us very proud to stand and sing O Canada in celebration!

This summer I set a personal goal...to take a Learn to Run clinic. I am proud to reveal that after 9 weeks of training, 28 runs throughout the summer I ran 107km in total. My goal race took place on September 5th and I'm excited to say I completed my 5km race in 43 minutes. But it doesn't end there! My next goal is to run another 5km race at the end of October with an improve time.

I hope you set some personal goals for yourself this year. Perhaps you plan to improve your academic achievement, or join an extra-curricular activity, or make an effort to participate more in the swim program. Whatever your goals, we'll work together to help you achieve them!

I look forward to a great year with you and to meeting your parents/guardians on Curriculum Night on Wednesday, September 30th.
