Week of December 14th

It's shocking to me 2015 is quickly coming to an end!
As we wrap up work for the calendar year we have numerous items on the agenda. Please read below for a long list of important dates in 2016.

First, a BIG congratulations to the Senior Boys Volleyball team who won the Conference Championship! I'm so proud of our amazing athletes and can't wait to see that banner raised in our gym!

We will say goodbye to Mr. Jason Thai, our student teacher. His units will wrap up this week with culminating tests and assignments.

Last week, Mr. Thai guided you in an activity in which you built a model of an accessibility ramp. Here are some photos.






POTLUCK PARTY THIS FRIDAY!
Our annual Cultural Potluck will take place this Friday morning. Please bring either a savoury or sweet dish to share with the class. Other options are cups, plates, forks, napkins, drinks. I will bring my class favourite, spaghetti with homemade tomato sauce and parmeggiano cheese!
Looking forward to sharing this food with all of you!!!

DANCE THIS FRIDAY!
Our first dance of the year will take place this Friday afternoon. The cost is $3.50 to cover the cost of the DJ.

Math
Mr. Thai will be wrapping up the Geometry unit and there will be a test!

Language
Mr. Thai is wrapping up his narrative unit this week. Your assignment is due Tuesday.
All of you must answer this question:
Give 3 characteristics of a narrative and provide examples from the story your were given.
Answer ONE of the following:
1. What does this story remind you of?
2. Choose a character from the story and provide 3 character traits about them and give evidence from the text.

Science
You will be given an assignment for science that is not due until the end of January. You will be given time in class in the new year to research for this assignment. More details later this week.

Art
Monograms! We will continue with our Geometric Monogram art project this week. The goal is to have them complete by Thursday. We will use every last period this week to work on them.
